Beginning in 2021, EastHUB proudly began partnering with the City of Bellevue, and will be working with the city on a number of exciting cultural projects. Using the vast array of information compiled from our cultural inventory survey, as well as information provided by the city and county, EastHUB will be able to provide a wealth of cultural services for the city and its people.
We are happy and proud to announce that as part of a partnership with the City of Bellevue, EastHUB has developed and launched EastsideLive.org, a completely free comprehensive cultural events calendar for the entire Eastside.
The Eastside has a rich arts and culture history, with diverse and innovative groups located all around the area. In our conversations with arts and culture organizations, one ongoing thread was the need for exposure and to promote events, something that has been a challenge in the past. Likewise, the general population of the Eastside had never had a central resource to discover arts and culture events taking place in the area, and had to rely on Seattle based resources, who often overlooked events taking place across the lake. The City of Bellevue had also identified these issues, and through our meetings with the city’s Art’s Managers office we developed a plan for a comprehensive web-based cultural events calendar and roster for the entire region.
EastsideLive.org seeks to address these issues by providing a resource for presenting organizations to showcase their events, as well as a searchable calendar and roster for the public to discover new groups and events to enrich their cultural lives. Cultural groups are able to create a username and submit their events directly to the website, without the need for costly marketing budgets, freeing up resources to better serve their missions and bring quality programming to the area. On top of this, the general public has access to a list of events and groups across the region, not just in their hometown.
EastsideLive.org relies on event submissions from arts and culture groups across the Eastside. If you’re part of an arts and culture organization, we’re looking for your submissions! Head on over to EastsideLive.org, sign your organization up, and submit your events. And if you’re a member of the public, head on over and check out all the events coming up. It’s free to use for everyone, and we’re really proud of it. We can’t do it without you, so check the site out today!
Bellwether ‘21Â
In 2021, EastHUB partnered with the City of Bellevue to book and produce two days of live performances for the city’s annual Bellwether arts festival. We were able to work with our community partners, to identify a diverse field of local performers, and issued an artist call to fill out the lineups. Even with the difficulties of a summer season complicated by the ongoing Covid pandemic, we were able to present two wonderful showcases for the residents of the city.
Additionally, EastHUB directed the marketing and publicity for the festival as a whole, increasing awareness for this valuable public event.
We are already in talks with city representatives to continue and expand this relationship for the foreseeable future, helping to grow our presence and impact in the community.
EastHUB partnered with the City of Bellevue’s diversity team, Delbert Richardson, and VCBynum Arts and Education to create a series of events to commemorate Juneteenth.
