Humaira Abid

Artist, 2019 Artist Trust Arts Innovator Award winner, Northwest Emmy Awards nominee

Humaira Abid transforms ordinary objects from everyday life into extraordinary works of art. Her turned and carved wood sculpture and miniature paintings—known for their exquisite detail—depict human relationships, societal repression, and consequences of suppressing basic truths. Her installations combine political, ironic, and provocative themes with beauty and seductive virtuosity.

Humaira Abid was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, where she received a BFA in sculpture and miniature painting from the National College of Arts. She has been living and working in Seattle, WA, since 2008. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries, and published around the world. It has been reviewed by local, national, and international news media. She has received numerous grants, honors and prestigious awards, most recently the 2019 Artist Trust Arts Innovator Award.

Two documentaries produced by KCTS9 (PBS) and Seattle Channel focusing on Abid and her work, were nominated for Northwest Emmy Awards.
