EastHUB’s first major cultural space development project is a 1000-capacity flexible-use Playhouse/Music Hall in the heart of downtown Bellevue. After extensive community input, the new facility will be constructed with ultimate flexibility in mind, and the capacity to quickly change configuration to accommodate a wide variety of performance and seating layouts.

EastHUB has been chosen by Lawrence Lui, the developer/owner of CLOUDVUE to design, build, and operate a major new cultural facility in downtown Bellevue, WA. The value of this gift to the citizens of the Eastside is currently estimated to be $44 million , representing the combined total value of the land, parking garages, subterranean structural support, site clearing, excavation, and associated expenses.

“The CLOUDVUE team, led by its president Lawrence Lui, understands the direct beneficial connection between strong arts and culture infrastructure, and vibrant and activated communities. The CLOUDVUE mixed-use project, combining office, residential, hotel and retail, gives us the opportunity to prominently showcase this commitment, and we are delighted to partner with EastHUB to further this long-term community vision by constructing a free-standing performance venue. EastHUB, led by CEO Ray Cullom, brings an incredible amount of top professional experience in the development of innovative new cultural spaces, and with its deep roots in the area has already led to a groundswell of support in the Bellevue community.

Design Process

Since the first, back-of-the-napkin concept sketch (above), CLOUDVUE Playhouse has been a true collaboration between Theater Architect (LMN) and EastHUB. The driving goal has been to design and build the most technically advanced, and most flexible-use performance space that has ever existed! Really! In collaboration with the Eastside’s celebrated tech community, we aim to create a truly pioneering activated, multi-use performance space that integrates exceptional performance and theater-design practices with newly emerging immersive technologies.
