EastHUB was founded to meet a need and seize an opportunity.
The Eastside abounds with creative individuals and a uniquely diverse and dynamic network of arts and culture organizations. However, the relentless pace of development and spiraling costs of facility occupancy and ownership have led to an Eastside that lacks the essential community-based cultural gathering spaces for teaching, learning, performing, exhibiting, and enjoying cultural experiences.
Recognizing this, a dedicated group of community members and a small staff founded EastHUB in early 2020 with the goal of helping create the infrastructure for a cultural legacy for succeeding generations. In order to set our priorities, EastHUB’s founder believed in the core promise and guiding principle that everything we do, and any project or initiative we take on, directly reflect the direction we receive from our partners within the regional arts and culture community.
Thanks to key early investment from Microsoft, and to the generous support received from major community stakeholders in regional governments, corporations including Amazon and Meta, and committed individuals who share the dream of a culturally activated Eastside, EastHUB has made substantial progress on a number of crucial initiatives. Now, as the world emerges from the shadow of a global pandemic that has had such a sustained negative impact on the arts and culture community, EastHUB is poised to provide much-needed support for our arts and culture partners on the Eastside.
EastHUB’s activities will continue to evolve to respond to the needs of the moment. Our focus is on creating a shared future for the arts and culture community, however that may evolve. We will regularly check back in with the community to ensure that our work remains relevant and continues to help advance arts and culture on the Eastside. Our current projects include the Playhouse, our Culture Creates Community events series, our EastsideLive cultural events website, our upcoming Cultural Mapping project, and more can be found on the pages of this website. Our Board and Staff are eager to form new relationships, and to partner on new initiatives that further the goal of the Eastside celebrated as a unique, vibrant, and inclusive cultural destination.
